Mini snowman DIY/Christmas decor ~ From my craft’s corner

Hey everyone, I had been super busy with my boring schedule and my Christmas feeling was almost dying unlike every year. But to my surprise, my hubby boo brought me a good size Christmas tree yesterday to bring back my enthusiasm, may be πŸ˜€. He knows me well I must say. I jumped with joy because I get to decorate a Christmas tree all by myself for the very first time.

To give a snowy touch, to complete my Christmas decor, I made a little snow land area πŸ’ and made 2 very cute snow man sitting on them.

Aren’t they just super cute?

To make one yours, you just need 5 minutes of your time and a little creativity ☺️ Let’s start πŸ‘‡

Materials required

  1. A pair of white socks
  2. Rice
  3. Rubber band
  4. Red ribbon
  5. Scissors
  6. Ear studs, buttons

Take a white sock and cut the top portion.

Then cut the sock into half with two open ends.

Using a rubber band, secure and tie one end.

Turn the sock inside out like this πŸ‘‡

Now fill it with rice completely.

Tie and secure the other end with a rubber band.

Now, using your fingers assume the space for making the neck and tie a rubber band.

Your base model is ready. Now take another piece of the same sock and tie one end with rubber band to make the cap.

Your cap is ready to be worn by the little snowman.

Take the red ribbon and tie on the cap and make muffler at the neck.

Now take your ear studs and stuck them to make eyes, mouth and buttons ☺️

Tadaaa. Your very own super cute snowman is ready.

The mini Christmas tree is made with just paper. Let me know if you want to learn making one. πŸ™‚

That’s my recliner before I set the snow land πŸ˜‚

And finally when I was done decorating my tree I made a cute snow land for these Lil bees. My husband is calling them ‘Santa-banta’ (very famous Indian characters used for jokes) πŸ˜‚

Glimpses from my Christmas decor.

Do try making this easy-peasy craft at your home. Kids would love making them, I am sure.

Happy crafting ☺️

Dressing table organizer/ DIY /cardboard craft~ from my craft’s corner

Hey you creative people. Its been long that we have talked about something creative and fun as well. So here I am today sharing one easy(read lengthy) DIY with you all. So hello everyone from Riya’ craft’s corner πŸ™‚

Last time I posted a cereal box turned desktop organizer DIY I got so much of love from you all,I decided to do a bigger project but on a minimal budget again.

I had my dressing table all messed up with bottles and tubes lying everywhere on a tray making it dirty and messy. So yesterday I made one “cardboard desktop organizer” which will keep all my stuff at places and organized and at the same time it will give my dressing area a beautiful look too so that we can get ready beautifully every morning πŸ™‚

Before we start, let me tell you that it took me the whole day (with lunch, dinner, leisure breaks ofcourse) to complete this project. So lets get started.

I have these cardboard boxes from online shopping lying around in my store room. So i cut off one of them this time.

I just used the cardboard flaps. Those were enough for this organizer.

Step 1 –

Materials required :-

  1. Cardboard pieces (like ofcourse πŸ˜‰ )
  2. Covering coloured paper (I used this cute Christmas theme green and white wrapping paper)
  3. Ruler
  4. Paper cutter/knife
  5. Glue gun and glue sticks
  6. Liquid glue
  7. Pair of scissors
  8. A paint brush (for evenly distributing the glue over cardboard for pasting paper)
  9. Decorative washy tape rolls
  10. Decorative fabric lace and plastic flowers (from school craft supplies :D)

PS- Ignore the quilling stips in the above picture, I didnt use them :/

Step 2-

Cutting the cardboard pieces into desired dimensions.

I am keeping the 5 pieces of drawer separately till I use them to not get mixed with the rest.

Tell me if the image is not clear. I will upload the dimensions seperately.

Step 3-

Wrapping the pieces. Wrap the pieces with wrapping paper from both the sides using liquid glue. Use the technique that suits you best.

Believe me guys(girls :)), this is the lengthiest step. You need to have patience if you are doing it alone like I did 😦 though after you finish, they look so cute πŸ™‚

Step 4 –

Start joining the parts to make the base using hot glue gun.

PS – be extra cautious while using hot glue if you are not habituated yet. I burnt myself a little 😦

Here my drawer and the base model is ready.

Step 5-

Making the knob for the drawer.

I have taken 2 plastic flowers of blue and green colour and glued them together.

Then attach it to the drawer front again using hot glue gun.

Step 6-

Gluing and attaching the other partitions carefully.

Bulkhead is the one on the right up. You need to slide it over the drawer section. And the 5*11 is the small one above it placed horizontally.

Step 7-

Decorate the front parts with fabric laces. And give a finishing touch by sticking washy tapes at the back edges of the frame to make it more durable and look clean.

And your brand new handmade table organizer is ready to be used. πŸ˜€

Step 6-

Place it on your dressing table and put all your stuff systematically as you like.

One set

Another set

You can use the drawer to keep your hair accessories, bracelets or whatever you want to.

Isn’t it cute and neat?

So this is it for today’s activity peeps. Hope you all liked my today’s DIY project. And if you like it, you surely going to make one for yourself. And if you do, don’t forget to share with me on my facebook page.

Also don’t forget to leave your feedback in the comment below:)

Until next time.

Yarned bottles ~ from my craft’s corner

To make a home decor at home is a zero cost deal. And trust me they look pretty as well.

For this DIY all you need is~

  • empty glass bottles. Like beer or wine bottle, milk shake bottles, ketchup or vinegar bottle etc.
  • Colorful yarn that lay around at home
  • Glue and scissors
  • Decorative items like stones, pearls buttons or anything of your choice.

I have made three such home decor using glass bottles which look really pretty in my showcase.

Used blue yarn over a beer bottle. And decorated with thermocol balls and buttons. Also used the decor as flower vase (handmade paper flowers)

Love to photograph my creations πŸ™‚

Two different colored yarn wrapped over a beer bottle. Decorated with quilled paper flower and Coils

One for me, one for my MIL πŸ™‚

  • Latest addition to the collection is this small milk shake bottle with double colored yarn and buttons. Simple and cute.

    My purple family πŸ’œ

Hope you guys liked this idea of home decor as I find it really pretty and affordable as gift item. People like it more when you spend some time and creativity on their gift.

    Much love
