Painting clay pot ~From my craft’s cornerΒ

Do you have those days when you don’t feel like doing anything at all?

I have those days too. While sitting at home idle one day,  I was staring at my showcase for no reason. My eyes struck to this old boring round shaped pot, I kept quite sometime ago. Then I rolled around my eyes to the lower section of my showcase which I made my craft’s supply corner. I saw the colours.  My favorite set of acrylic colours. And I couldn’t take the comfort of my recliner anymore. I jumped and bring the clay pot, colours and brushes together on the floor.

And I turned this πŸ‘‡

To this πŸ‘‡

Materials required-

  1. A clay pot
  2. Acrylic colours
  3. Paint brushes
  4. A bottle cap
  5. Decorative lace
  6. Item you want to keep in it to decorate your centre table.

Though I am a colourful person, I love colours, but everyone has a black and white side in them. This time I wanted to keep that as my theme. Only black and white.

Step 1- Take the pot and using your widest brush, paint it white.

Step 2 – take the black colour, your favorite brush and apply the strokes or pattern you like.

Step 3- take your favourite black coloured lace and paste it around the neck of the pot.

Your Decorative centre piece is almost ready.

Step 4- take a plastic wide mouth bottle cap of any colour and paint it black.

It is the base stand for the pot. Stick the painted pot on the open side of the black cap.

Now its time to decorate your centre table piece. I would prefer artificial beautiful white flowers which I certainly didn’t have.

I filled the pot with colourful thermocol balls and kept some artificial flower buds that I had in one of my flower pots.

This white rose tiara really goes well with it for decorations and photography.

That’s how my centre piece looks like πŸ™‚

Off coloured picture as per my theme.

That’s it for today’s post people.

Hope you like it. Be creative and be limitless.

Much love

Christmas wreath ~ from my craft’s corner

One day to go.. Isn’t that feeling amazing? It has always been for whatsoever you are counting your days and it will always be because the child inside us never dies however busy we might be in our lives. We keep on counting days specially for the holidays to come.

In India, we don’t call it holidays / winter holidays because we don’t get one. Just one day i.e. 25th of December. But this year Christmas surprised us by falling on a Monday that makes a long weekend. Yay holidays.

Spending time at home is my favorite thing to do and when it’s festive it a plus 1. While being busy recording and editing my bunny boos music video on last Christmas, I quickly made an easy Christmas wreath for my door. Oops! did I mention, he is a guitarist by passion and running an YouTube channel by his name Ankit Pahuja. Wanna make me happy? Check out his channel. πŸ˜πŸ‘‡

Fingerstyle guitarist – Ankit Pahuja

Now let’s begin today’s DIY which is again a very easy one as I frankly didn’t have much time with me.

Materials required

  1. Cardboard
  2. Ribbon
  3. Paper cutter
  4. Plastic bottle
  5. Half cut pearls, plastic flowers and pearl strips
  6. Bells and balls
  7. Thin ribbon
  8. Glue gun
  9. White glue
  10. Acrylic colour and brush

Take a card board

Take two different sized bowl/plate and make consecutive circles.

Now cut the circular strip.

Apply white glue on the cardboard circle.

Start rolling the red ribbon around it.

Complete the process till everything is covered neatly.

Keep it aside. Take a waste plastic bottle and randomly cut leaf shaped pieces out of it.

Colour them green and leave to dry.

Now take the circular wreath and paste 3 plastic flowers on it. And arrange and paste the leaves using a hot glue.

Later I added half cut pearls in the middle of the flowers.

Take two bells and a ball (I used ready made ones, you may make your own as well) and paste them on the top of the wreath keeping the floral section at its north-east.

Decorate the rest part with pearl strips or decorative stones or buttons.

Make a cute paper bow and stick it on the top of the bells to hide the glued section.

Now making the hang. Take a gift decorating ribbon. And paste it on the back of the wreath making a loop to hang. Curl the ribbon using scissors.

And your simple yet elegant door decor for Christmas is ready.

I hanged it on my main door on a command hook.

Closer look after a day of hanging πŸ™‚

Christmas tree cards: part 1 ~From my craft’s corner

Heya people, it’s 23:40 hours in my clock and I am just so excited already to Welcome December πŸ˜€. December brings joy, happiness, celebration, fests, parties, holidays and loads of love with it. Hence I couldn’t wait till one more day and already in Christmas mood. Hence I am starting a series on Christmas here~ cards, trees, decorations and other funny and cute crafts.

So, let’s start the first day with 2 easy, yet beautiful Christmas Tree Cards DIY πŸ™‚

I will explain how to make these cards in easiest possible way. So stick till the end and make some for your family and friends ☺️

You can see my Christmas mood already 😁

CARD 1- pink on blue

Take an A4 colored paper and cut these dimensions out of it. Total 5 squares.

Taking each square sheet, fold them in half.

Now hold the folded side, and again fold corners in the middle like this πŸ‘‡

Do the same for all the 5 squares.

You are almost done;) Now take 24*16 cm Blue paper and fold it into half to make it the card base. Paste a star cut out on the top middle. And paste the above triangles in increasing order of their size to make a tree like this πŸ‘‡

See I told you, we are done with the first card here. Isn’t it nice? Let’s move on to the next one.

CARD 2– Green on Red

What we all need for this one are some news paper straws, colors, paint brush, glue and card paper Of course ☺️

Sorry for the messy background, I usually get this messy all the time in my craft’s corner πŸ˜‚. You don’t need these much paper straws though.

Take 2-3 straws and paint them green. Keep aside to dry.

Cut out two little equal triangle for making the star.

Take a cardboard and paint it black. And glue the yellow triangles on the top of it one over another to make the star.

Now cut the painted straws in different sizes. One little bigger than the previous one.

Now simply glue them one by one on the black cardboard in increasing order from top to bottom leaving space in between.

You can also use this structure as a Christmas decor itself☺️

Now take a red A4 size paper. Fold it in half. Draw borders using black sketch pen. I also drew some corners free handed 😊. Put some glue on the back of the tree we just made and paste on the card in the middle.

Tadaaa you are done.

Isn’t it just adorable? I personally loved it.

Time for some fun πŸ˜‚

I am so excited to add so many others to this πŸ˜€

This is it for today’s craft. Tell me if you like it.

Happy December and happy winters everybody ☺️

Much love

Cereal box turned paper/envelope holder/DIY ~From my craft’s corner

Hey peeps. It’s Sunday again and I am back with some creativity. After my successful DIY on cereal box turned desktop organizer (which I am using for months now and very happy with it), I decided to make some more useful things with the small cereal boxes lying around in my craft’s corner.

You must be thinking how much cereals do we eat πŸ˜€ My husband is a chocos fan and me..ya.. Okay.. not much, but it works like charm when you have nothing else for breakfast πŸ˜‰ Hence my favorite flavors come in small packets. So this time I used two of them and turned them into a table top envelope( or any sort of paper) holder.

So let’s begin with what materials we require.

  • Cereal boxes of course.
  • 3 cardboard pieces
  • Hot glue gun
  • Wrapping paper
  • Craft glue
  • Pair of scissors
  • Paper cutter
  • Ruler
  • Marker
  • Hand made paper , heart stamp pearl strip( for decoration)
  • Washy tape
  • Cloth clip

Step 1-

Cut the upper portion of both the boxes and stick them together using glue gun like this.

Step 2-

Measure equal length from top diagonally to a certain point( up to how much height you want from bottom) and mark using a marker in both the sides like this πŸ‘‡

Join the marked points in the sides too as a guide to cut along.

Step 3-

Cut along the guided line in all the four sides leaving the middle one.

Step 4-

For extra support and durability, I attached 3 pieces of cardboard in bottom, back and front

Cut the cardboards in the measurements of the boxes and paste them using hot glue gun. Clip some clips so that the glue holds in place.

Step 5-

Using wrapping cello tape, I taped all the side edges to make it more secure.

Step 6-

Now comes the cleanest part. To wrap the whole box. Wrap it in the manner that suits you. I placed the box on a big paper and marked all the sides with extra 1inch to fold inside. Then cut the paper along the edges and stick them neatly with craft glue.

Step 7-

I first thought of cutting the middle part as marked, but then I thought It can be used as a holder (to hold the organizer with your fingers). Hence didn’t cut it, but gave it a beautiful shape.

It turned out as an angel fish. Hence, made eyes, body and water using marker.

Decorated the top with a half pearl strip. Also covered the corners using a matching tape.

And tadaaa, your envelope holder is ready to use.

Step 8-

To give it a more presentable look, I pasted a handmade paper sheet in the front. And cut out some hearts using a heart stamp from the same paper.

And paste them like this. πŸ‘‡

This is the final look of what we were making. πŸ™‚

Now transfer all your papers lying here and there in your house to this and they are all organized at one place. Easy to find and segregate.

Keep it on your most handy table and everyone in the house can use it easily.

So this was it for today’s craft activity. I will see you guys next time. Till then let me know if you like it or not.

Happy crafting πŸ™‚

Dressing table organizer/ DIY /cardboard craft~ from my craft’s corner

Hey you creative people. Its been long that we have talked about something creative and fun as well. So here I am today sharing one easy(read lengthy) DIY with you all. So hello everyone from Riya’ craft’s corner πŸ™‚

Last time I posted a cereal box turned desktop organizer DIY I got so much of love from you all,I decided to do a bigger project but on a minimal budget again.

I had my dressing table all messed up with bottles and tubes lying everywhere on a tray making it dirty and messy. So yesterday I made one “cardboard desktop organizer” which will keep all my stuff at places and organized and at the same time it will give my dressing area a beautiful look too so that we can get ready beautifully every morning πŸ™‚

Before we start, let me tell you that it took me the whole day (with lunch, dinner, leisure breaks ofcourse) to complete this project. So lets get started.

I have these cardboard boxes from online shopping lying around in my store room. So i cut off one of them this time.

I just used the cardboard flaps. Those were enough for this organizer.

Step 1 –

Materials required :-

  1. Cardboard pieces (like ofcourse πŸ˜‰ )
  2. Covering coloured paper (I used this cute Christmas theme green and white wrapping paper)
  3. Ruler
  4. Paper cutter/knife
  5. Glue gun and glue sticks
  6. Liquid glue
  7. Pair of scissors
  8. A paint brush (for evenly distributing the glue over cardboard for pasting paper)
  9. Decorative washy tape rolls
  10. Decorative fabric lace and plastic flowers (from school craft supplies :D)

PS- Ignore the quilling stips in the above picture, I didnt use them :/

Step 2-

Cutting the cardboard pieces into desired dimensions.

I am keeping the 5 pieces of drawer separately till I use them to not get mixed with the rest.

Tell me if the image is not clear. I will upload the dimensions seperately.

Step 3-

Wrapping the pieces. Wrap the pieces with wrapping paper from both the sides using liquid glue. Use the technique that suits you best.

Believe me guys(girls :)), this is the lengthiest step. You need to have patience if you are doing it alone like I did 😦 though after you finish, they look so cute πŸ™‚

Step 4 –

Start joining the parts to make the base using hot glue gun.

PS – be extra cautious while using hot glue if you are not habituated yet. I burnt myself a little 😦

Here my drawer and the base model is ready.

Step 5-

Making the knob for the drawer.

I have taken 2 plastic flowers of blue and green colour and glued them together.

Then attach it to the drawer front again using hot glue gun.

Step 6-

Gluing and attaching the other partitions carefully.

Bulkhead is the one on the right up. You need to slide it over the drawer section. And the 5*11 is the small one above it placed horizontally.

Step 7-

Decorate the front parts with fabric laces. And give a finishing touch by sticking washy tapes at the back edges of the frame to make it more durable and look clean.

And your brand new handmade table organizer is ready to be used. πŸ˜€

Step 6-

Place it on your dressing table and put all your stuff systematically as you like.

One set

Another set

You can use the drawer to keep your hair accessories, bracelets or whatever you want to.

Isn’t it cute and neat?

So this is it for today’s activity peeps. Hope you all liked my today’s DIY project. And if you like it, you surely going to make one for yourself. And if you do, don’t forget to share with me on my facebook page.

Also don’t forget to leave your feedback in the comment below:)

Until next time.

Cereal box turned Desktop organizer – from my craft’s corner

An easy DIY to do at zero cost which will keep your table top neat and organized.

Isn’t it nice and compact?

I am using it to store my craft supplies like quilling tools, paper strips, glue bottles/sticks /scissor, pen, pencil, ruler etc.

All you need to make this beautiful organizer are-

  • Empty cereal/corn flakes boxes (3)
  • Gift wrapping paper
  • Black tape
  • Scissor /paper cutter
  • Glue

First of all take 3 equal size cereal box and align them together. Like this

Cut top cover part of all the boxes

Then glue the three boxes vertically and tape them horizontally make it more durable.

Measure a certain length from the bottom of front side and mark using a pen. Do the same thing on other side of the box (only front part) and join the two points making a straight line parallel to the bottom (horizontal line)

This will make the front.

Now tilt the organizer and take the marked point and join it with the upper point through a slanting straight line like this.

Now cut along this slant using paper cutter or scissor. Do this for the whole box. You will get this

I have taped the joined edges to be more stable to handle for the time being.. Your DIY desktop organizer model is ready.

Now wrap the whole box using gift wrapping paper and glue.

I have taped all the edges with black durable tape. It gives a nice and clean look too to the organizer.

Lastly take two equal cardboard sheets (using the ones we cutted out at the starting from the boxes) and wrap them using the same wrapping paper. And tape them on one edge. [measurement for these will be the width of the first cereal box.

Paste them like this to make 3 compartments.

Your brand new durable desktop organizer from waste material is ready. Fill it up with all the materials that were messing up your study /work/craft table.

Last compartment is big enough to hold small books also.

I hope you like my work. Tell me in the comments how you feel about this. :=)

Happy crafting

Quilled flowers ~ from my craft’s corner

Quilling is a form of art made with paper strips, usually rolling them and giving different shapes. I love quilling and I am sharing one such art today.

The flowers has been made by just using the quilling tool and the butterfly is made using quilling comb.

There are a huge variety of designs you can choose. It just needs your creativity and a bit patience.

      Hope you all Like it.
