I wish I had wings ~ Poetry

I wish I had wings
I wouldn’t have to hold on my feelings
I could fly away
Far far away
Away from all the facility
Away from the word called ‘society’

I wish I had wings
I wouldn’t have to answer every phone rings
I could reach the peak of a mountain
I could scream and burst the lava of anger in my fountain

I wish I had wings
I wouldn’t have to follow the proceedings
I could vanish from the world I live in
To make my own space in the submarine

I wish I had wings
So to not let anyone know my doings
I would be on my own
Fighting through the trees and clouds
At least would be better than the fake smiles and humanly moulds

I wish I had wings
I wouldn’t have to live inside buildings
I wouldn’t be anyone’s burden
I could make a living in a simple den

I wish I had wings
I could follow my emotional feelings
And listen to my heart
I could keep trying to reach the top
Doesn’t matter how many times I flop

I wish I had wings
I wouldn’t have any bindings
I could sit on any humps or horns
I wouldn’t had to face any real game of thrones

I wish I had wings
I wouldn’t have to fake my choice of lovings.
I could choose not to wear leathers
And proudly show off my colorful feathers

I wish I had wings
No One had to listen to the songs my heart sings
I could decide what for me is best
And could make my very own cozy nest

I wish I had wings
I would have no permanent bondings
I could feel free, fly free
And my attitude towards life could be care-free

But.

I am not a flying beauty
I Have no wings
Anyone bothers or not
I have to burden my personal belongings

I wish I had wings
I wouldn’t have to hold on my feelings…

Christmas tree cards:Part 2 ~From my craft’s corner

Hey people, I am back with second day of Christmas craft. In my first part, I made two very easy peasy Christmas card ideas and today, I am going to make another very pretty Christmas tree card which can be used as a wall decor or as a wishing card for your loved ones.

I love vibrant colours and I just love Christmas but that really doesn’t mean Christmas has to be everything red, green and white or it has to be? πŸ˜€ Well it completely depends on one’s personal perception of seeing things. Christmas tree is green, snow is white and Santa’s dress of course red πŸŽ…. Now that makes my first card. A perfect to go Christmas card which will bring back your winter mood πŸ™‚ I couldn’t stop myself from adopting the theme ☺️

Let’s start making one now πŸ‘‡

What we need :

  1. Origami square papers
  2. Card paper
  3. Ruler and pencil
  4. Glue stick
  5. Scissor βœ‚
  6. Some decor (stars, glitter tape, etc)

Take a square origami paper (preferably thin paper, it will be easier to make and the tree looks much prettier and lively)

My paper is one side white and one side colored. Both sides colored paper will do equally good.

Now rotate the paper and fold diagonally corner to corner like this πŸ‘‡

Now make a straight line parallel to the folded side leaving a little space.

Again rotate the paper and make straight lines starting from one end as shown keeping 1cm distance.

Now it’s time to bring your scissors. Simply cut along the vertical line up to the line we marked at first.

You will get this when you are done cutting

After you finish, unfold the paper.

Tadaa, you will get this πŸ‘‡

Reverse the paper to work in the back (white side) to keep the green as the front. Now it’s time for the glue stick. Take one strip at one time and stick to the bottom as shown carefully. You don’t want to tear a part.

Now take a strip from another side and stick it on it like this πŸ‘‡

Now continue doing the process till you reach the top. Your beautiful tree is done

Just paste a star on the top and use it as decor for your wall showcases or any wooden frames. Isn’t it just adorable already?

Now lets get into the card making.

Take a red card paper, fold into half and paste the tree on it carefully in the middle leaving some portion in the bottom.

Now it’s time for adding the sentiment. Make your own if you wish like I did here πŸ™‚ Paste the sentiment on the bottom.

Make a star using two equal yellow triangle pasting one on another like I did in my last post and paste it on top obviously.

Let’s not be boring. Decorations are a must ☺️

And our first card is ready. Fill the inner part with you blessings and feelings and make the recipient happy 😊I am sure anyone would love such a lovely greeting card.

I have made a similar tree in bright yellow color and used on a blue card with golden decorations. Few stars and a golden tape with a red star.

As I said, Christmas doesn’t have to be g-re-w ( green, red, white)

This is for those who love shine and glitter.

Saint and sinner.

Yay, my family is growing πŸ™‚

Check out my last and first post on Christmas card here if you haven’t already ☺️

Till the next time. Keep showering love and blessings. Happy winter ❄

Much love,

Riya

Birding in Assonora, Goa

I just realized it’s been two weeks that I have updated about my birding activities. Please check out my last post on birding from home if you haven’t already 😊. In the last post, I posted about the birds that I saw or regularly see around my house area. Now this is the time for office area. πŸ˜‚ It might sound funny, but I live in Goa, and there is a birding opportunity in every 500m. So here are few of my clicks that I could manage to take within 1 hour before the sun sets and get ready for another new day ☺️

First of all, I would like to tell you about the location a bit. This place is a par i.e. the flowing journey of backwaters from a dam. I cross this little bridge over the water everyday to reach my office. Here’s the soothing view.

I must tell you this is as refreshing as it seems in the picture.

Now let’s start birding. I spotted and captured 3 major birds in this area with few uncapturable others like common kingfisher etc.

Cattle Egret – Bubulcus ibis

Cattle egrets are quite a lot common in Goa. You can spot them near any water body and sometimes on road sides too.

A portrait is must while playing with one of them.

In search for kill.

Yay, I got one πŸ˜€

The landing

Great Cormorant –Phalacrocorax carbo

I hadn’t seen this black beauty before and hence was getting confused with black heron, may be from quite a distant view. I couldn’t wait and took the risk of going the closest possible to the pillars where they were resting.

One

Another one

One + one = Two ❀️

the eye contact”

Little egrets- Egretta garzetta

Hearing the name might be confusing for anyone to imagine these egrets to be little and small, but trust me, they aren’t AT ALL.

Little ones are the most beautiful and awestruck egrets I have ever seen. They stand tall like any queen of the forest.

Majestic beauty taking the leap

The attitude walk.

Finally “The final Closure”.

And they took the click of the day award πŸ˜€

The fly and the water

While I using busy chasing egrets, the sky was full of kites.

I won’t say one can spend hours and hours in this particular location because they can’t. But still it’s a spectacular point for a bird watcher/lover.

Overview: All together

It was going to be dark, hence I quickly snapped a few macros and took off for the day.

Oops I forgot, I was near flowing water body, how could I miss the chance of experimenting with shutter speed πŸ˜€ a little waterfall πŸ‘‡

Don’t worry, just one shot now, let the remaining be in another detailed post.

Camera: Canon 1300D

Lens: Tamron 70-300mm handheld

That’s all for today’s birding. Stay connected till my next one.

Christmas tree cards: part 1 ~From my craft’s corner

Heya people, it’s 23:40 hours in my clock and I am just so excited already to Welcome December πŸ˜€. December brings joy, happiness, celebration, fests, parties, holidays and loads of love with it. Hence I couldn’t wait till one more day and already in Christmas mood. Hence I am starting a series on Christmas here~ cards, trees, decorations and other funny and cute crafts.

So, let’s start the first day with 2 easy, yet beautiful Christmas Tree Cards DIY πŸ™‚

I will explain how to make these cards in easiest possible way. So stick till the end and make some for your family and friends ☺️

You can see my Christmas mood already 😁

CARD 1- pink on blue

Take an A4 colored paper and cut these dimensions out of it. Total 5 squares.

Taking each square sheet, fold them in half.

Now hold the folded side, and again fold corners in the middle like this πŸ‘‡

Do the same for all the 5 squares.

You are almost done;) Now take 24*16 cm Blue paper and fold it into half to make it the card base. Paste a star cut out on the top middle. And paste the above triangles in increasing order of their size to make a tree like this πŸ‘‡

See I told you, we are done with the first card here. Isn’t it nice? Let’s move on to the next one.

CARD 2– Green on Red

What we all need for this one are some news paper straws, colors, paint brush, glue and card paper Of course ☺️

Sorry for the messy background, I usually get this messy all the time in my craft’s corner πŸ˜‚. You don’t need these much paper straws though.

Take 2-3 straws and paint them green. Keep aside to dry.

Cut out two little equal triangle for making the star.

Take a cardboard and paint it black. And glue the yellow triangles on the top of it one over another to make the star.

Now cut the painted straws in different sizes. One little bigger than the previous one.

Now simply glue them one by one on the black cardboard in increasing order from top to bottom leaving space in between.

You can also use this structure as a Christmas decor itself☺️

Now take a red A4 size paper. Fold it in half. Draw borders using black sketch pen. I also drew some corners free handed 😊. Put some glue on the back of the tree we just made and paste on the card in the middle.

Tadaaa you are done.

Isn’t it just adorable? I personally loved it.

Time for some fun πŸ˜‚

I am so excited to add so many others to this πŸ˜€

This is it for today’s craft. Tell me if you like it.

Happy December and happy winters everybody ☺️

Much love

Thrust of love ~ Poetry

Thrust of love”

When your fingers roll around my bare back
And your lips silently touches my naked neck.

As My trembling hand moves towards your shoulders
I grabbed all the sheets in the folder

Your feet on my toes
I forgot about all my taken vows

You looked into my eyes
Filled with shameful lies

I couldn’t make a sound as my lips were sealed.

You touched me again, and every chapter of mine was pealed

As you pushed me behind the doors
My heart was screaming, make me yours

Closing my eyes
My senses came back to time,
The dream I just had was never mine.

Was I proud for what I felt?
Or my life will be again full of guilt!

Guilt of the mistakes I never did,
To rationalize the world my heart build.

Cereal box turned paper/envelope holder/DIY ~From my craft’s corner

Hey peeps. It’s Sunday again and I am back with some creativity. After my successful DIY on cereal box turned desktop organizer (which I am using for months now and very happy with it), I decided to make some more useful things with the small cereal boxes lying around in my craft’s corner.

You must be thinking how much cereals do we eat πŸ˜€ My husband is a chocos fan and me..ya.. Okay.. not much, but it works like charm when you have nothing else for breakfast πŸ˜‰ Hence my favorite flavors come in small packets. So this time I used two of them and turned them into a table top envelope( or any sort of paper) holder.

So let’s begin with what materials we require.

  • Cereal boxes of course.
  • 3 cardboard pieces
  • Hot glue gun
  • Wrapping paper
  • Craft glue
  • Pair of scissors
  • Paper cutter
  • Ruler
  • Marker
  • Hand made paper , heart stamp pearl strip( for decoration)
  • Washy tape
  • Cloth clip

Step 1-

Cut the upper portion of both the boxes and stick them together using glue gun like this.

Step 2-

Measure equal length from top diagonally to a certain point( up to how much height you want from bottom) and mark using a marker in both the sides like this πŸ‘‡

Join the marked points in the sides too as a guide to cut along.

Step 3-

Cut along the guided line in all the four sides leaving the middle one.

Step 4-

For extra support and durability, I attached 3 pieces of cardboard in bottom, back and front

Cut the cardboards in the measurements of the boxes and paste them using hot glue gun. Clip some clips so that the glue holds in place.

Step 5-

Using wrapping cello tape, I taped all the side edges to make it more secure.

Step 6-

Now comes the cleanest part. To wrap the whole box. Wrap it in the manner that suits you. I placed the box on a big paper and marked all the sides with extra 1inch to fold inside. Then cut the paper along the edges and stick them neatly with craft glue.

Step 7-

I first thought of cutting the middle part as marked, but then I thought It can be used as a holder (to hold the organizer with your fingers). Hence didn’t cut it, but gave it a beautiful shape.

It turned out as an angel fish. Hence, made eyes, body and water using marker.

Decorated the top with a half pearl strip. Also covered the corners using a matching tape.

And tadaaa, your envelope holder is ready to use.

Step 8-

To give it a more presentable look, I pasted a handmade paper sheet in the front. And cut out some hearts using a heart stamp from the same paper.

And paste them like this. πŸ‘‡

This is the final look of what we were making. πŸ™‚

Now transfer all your papers lying here and there in your house to this and they are all organized at one place. Easy to find and segregate.

Keep it on your most handy table and everyone in the house can use it easily.

So this was it for today’s craft activity. I will see you guys next time. Till then let me know if you like it or not.

Happy crafting πŸ™‚

Much love,

Riya

“Love or lust” – Poetry

Is this love or it is lust ?
I ask just why it is must?

If it was lust, it wouldn’t be you
It would be my greedy eyes on you

Then why don’t we leave a chance
To get done with the romance

It has to be one of the laws of attraction
Else why not I get the answer for my equation

I know this is wrong, just so wrong.
But day by day my feelings would only go strong.

I said this is for the time being, it will fade away
Because I never knew you will made my heart your forever stay.

When did it happen, when did we come close
Only to let you know the situation will become worse

It is possible by not meeting
But how to stop my heart from beating

Yes it is my heart , that looks out for you
With its every beat, it remembers you

Now it’s time.
To realise you are not mine
Always it hurts
May be little lessen with time

The only person should know this is you
Well you know, my heart belongs to you

Now it’s time for you to leave
As you loved me, that’s what I believe.

Much love

Birding from home

Hello everyone, I am here to keep my promise I made in my last post about posting some bird pictures I clicked. So I am starting a series here of bird photography. But first of all, I should let you know that I am not any expert and far far from being professional in any kind of photography. Just to take my hobby a step ahead, I started this blog to keep me and you all motivated.

For birding, the basic amenities we require is a minimum 500mm lens and a better pair of tripod which is quite heavy on my budget. Hence I am using Tamron 70-300mm telephoto lens with CANON 1300D. Though I have simpex 333 tripod, I usually do bird photography handheld because of course, they have wings and I can’t move my tripod with their speed πŸ˜‚

So let’s start with today’s post, Birding from my home (balcony-2nd floor, terrace or downstairs). I live in Goa and my house is located in quite a Hilly place and I am just lucky enough to have a big bunch of trees just at my backyard, not reachable but visible from my bedroom balcony 😍

” Birds wake me up every morning with their chirping”

So let’s start with the very first bird I clicked after shifting here.

Greater coucal. This image is very special for me as I started my journey with this. I haven’t seen a bird that beautiful before sitting at home. So few more from the same species.

Lesser coucal

Southern coucal.

This was yesterday. He was playing hide and seek with me πŸ˜‰

Finally got what he had come for.

Moving on to the next one.

Purple rumped sunbird – male

Purple rumped sunbird – female

A black drongo visited me for the first time yesterday. Happy me. πŸ™‚

White throated kingfisher is the most vividly seen in Goa due to their distinctive colours. I simply adore this bird.

Oriental magpie Robin.

Sorry for the bad quality image. 😦

Red whiskered bulbul

I am singing my lungs out, can you hear me?

Some unexpected catches from homeπŸ‘‡

Chestnut tailed startling.

I was so happy to see this bird with a bunch of other species jumping from one branch to another.

I simply loved the frame to crop off a little..

Indian Pond heron.

After I see this bird for the first time that closely on my building boundary, I happen to see it everywhere where there is a water body.

Thanks for the surprise visit and giving me time to capture your poses.

Why not crow?

House crow.

Crows are boring to shoot as they are most common in any Indian region, so I pair them with sunset πŸ™‚

And sunrise.

Morning time coupling:)

Talking about birding from home, I hereby want to add two more birds which I clicked while from home in Bareilly, UP when I was at my In-laws house this October πŸ™‚

Eurasian collared dove.

Mostly confused with house pegion, being very common in that area..

Portrait of the same

Rufous Treepie

No they are not sparrows. πŸ™‚

So that’s it for today people. I will continue my ‘series on bird photography’ every now and then. Till then, let me know if you liked my clicks or not. Your comments are really appreciated.

Much love,

Riya

Dressing table organizer/ DIY /cardboard craft~ from my craft’s corner

Hey you creative people. Its been long that we have talked about something creative and fun as well. So here I am today sharing one easy(read lengthy) DIY with you all. So hello everyone from Riya’ craft’s corner πŸ™‚

Last time I posted a cereal box turned desktop organizer DIY I got so much of love from you all,I decided to do a bigger project but on a minimal budget again.

I had my dressing table all messed up with bottles and tubes lying everywhere on a tray making it dirty and messy. So yesterday I made one “cardboard desktop organizer” which will keep all my stuff at places and organized and at the same time it will give my dressing area a beautiful look too so that we can get ready beautifully every morning πŸ™‚

Before we start, let me tell you that it took me the whole day (with lunch, dinner, leisure breaks ofcourse) to complete this project. So lets get started.

I have these cardboard boxes from online shopping lying around in my store room. So i cut off one of them this time.

I just used the cardboard flaps. Those were enough for this organizer.

Step 1 –

Materials required :-

  1. Cardboard pieces (like ofcourse πŸ˜‰ )
  2. Covering coloured paper (I used this cute Christmas theme green and white wrapping paper)
  3. Ruler
  4. Paper cutter/knife
  5. Glue gun and glue sticks
  6. Liquid glue
  7. Pair of scissors
  8. A paint brush (for evenly distributing the glue over cardboard for pasting paper)
  9. Decorative washy tape rolls
  10. Decorative fabric lace and plastic flowers (from school craft supplies :D)

PS- Ignore the quilling stips in the above picture, I didnt use them :/

Step 2-

Cutting the cardboard pieces into desired dimensions.

I am keeping the 5 pieces of drawer separately till I use them to not get mixed with the rest.

Tell me if the image is not clear. I will upload the dimensions seperately.

Step 3-

Wrapping the pieces. Wrap the pieces with wrapping paper from both the sides using liquid glue. Use the technique that suits you best.

Believe me guys(girls :)), this is the lengthiest step. You need to have patience if you are doing it alone like I did 😦 though after you finish, they look so cute πŸ™‚

Step 4 –

Start joining the parts to make the base using hot glue gun.

PS – be extra cautious while using hot glue if you are not habituated yet. I burnt myself a little 😦

Here my drawer and the base model is ready.

Step 5-

Making the knob for the drawer.

I have taken 2 plastic flowers of blue and green colour and glued them together.

Then attach it to the drawer front again using hot glue gun.

Step 6-

Gluing and attaching the other partitions carefully.

Bulkhead is the one on the right up. You need to slide it over the drawer section. And the 5*11 is the small one above it placed horizontally.

Step 7-

Decorate the front parts with fabric laces. And give a finishing touch by sticking washy tapes at the back edges of the frame to make it more durable and look clean.

And your brand new handmade table organizer is ready to be used. πŸ˜€

Step 6-

Place it on your dressing table and put all your stuff systematically as you like.

One set

Another set

You can use the drawer to keep your hair accessories, bracelets or whatever you want to.

Isn’t it cute and neat?

So this is it for today’s activity peeps. Hope you all liked my today’s DIY project. And if you like it, you surely going to make one for yourself. And if you do, don’t forget to share with me on my facebook page.

Also don’t forget to leave your feedback in the comment below:)

Until next time.

Dr Salim Ali bird sanctuary

Hello everyone, Today i.e. 12th November 2017 is the 121st birth Anniversary of the person who is famously called the ‘Birdman of India’. Only due to his dedication and systematic bird surveys across India, Ornithology has its place today’s India.

Being a padma bhushan and padma vibhushan awardee, sir SΓ‘lim Moizuddin Abdul Ali is a hero for many Indian birders /bird watchers.

Today, my post is dedicated to him.

This post is about the Salim Ali bird Sanctuary in Goa and few of the birds that I captured in my lenses around my neighbourhood.

Lets start with the place which told me about this legend for the very first time. Yes I didn’t know about him, as I was never that of a bird watcher (always loved the wings though in the open sky). But only when I came to Goa and started waking up to bird chirps, I have grown this keen interest in them. I cant say, how much I love watching their activities and trust me I can do that all day πŸ™‚

Lets start with Dr Salim Ali bird Sanctuary, that is situated on the Chorao Island in North Goa district along the mandovi river.

As soon as you deboard the rivander-chorao ferry, you will find this sanctuary just to your left.

This is the entrance path.

As soon as you enter this place, serenity will attack you from everywhere.

Walking paths has been beautifully carved helping birders and tourists to make their way.

These beautiful yet strong stone pallets will take you closer to what-we-call Peace.

Not sure what these are. Could be find everywhere in the mud. I took this capture as they formed animal figures to me πŸ™‚

I also see myself as I grow up – says the tree

Beautiful stretch of rich flora and fauna can be seen here along with the various kinds of bird calls. I wish I had a better lense when I went to this place last time. Unfortunately couldn’t spot any of those eye catching wings.

No wonder I want to visit this place again and again. Next time I am here, you bloggers will be with me πŸ™‚ I am such a jungle person.

You can see the happiness index πŸ˜€

I am sun’s alarm clock~says the bird

Serenity and calmness is what your mind finds in such places. Find some time for your soul and visit these nature bound places, not just to find birds but to find yourself πŸ™‚

These are my best frames that could describe the peaceful attitude of this location.

A far away click of the Brahmini kite πŸ™‚

Stay with me till my next post which will include my bird spotting activities in Goa. *Promise*

Till then, keep smiling and keep birding:)

Much love,

Riya
